How it works

The steps involved in dedicating a cloud.

We classify the formation, record your dedication, and produce the paperwork before the sky changes its mind.

Bright cloud formation seen from above

Choose a formation

A formation is classified according to current registry criteria. Suitability is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Fountain pen nib resting on paper

Enter the name

The proposed dedication is submitted for review. The registry reserves the right to decline any name that does not meet its standards.

Receive the certificate

Issued in the name of the formation, not the dedicator, because one of those is still here.

Join the ledger

Your dedication enters the private ledger and remains there indefinitely, by which we mean for as long as the ledger does.

Questions of record

Clear answers for an unclear product.

The registry responds to enquiries in accordance with its published procedures.

Can I visit my cloud?

You may look upward during the observation window. Visitation is dependent on cloud continuity, horizon access, and whether the cloud remains meaningfully itself.

What happens if my cloud rains?

Rain is treated as a dignified release of form. Your certificate remains valid as a record of association, not as a claim over water.

Can two people name the same cloud?

Not within the same emotional window. Related vapour may be assigned under separate registry numbers where distinction can be politely maintained.

Is this legally binding?

It is privately recorded, ceremonially persuasive, and meteorologically non-binding. This is the correct balance for most gift occasions.

Can I choose what my cloud looks like?

You may express a preference for colour, density, and general disposition on the certificate. This preference will be noted and not acted upon.

Does my dedication renew each year?

The dedication is permanent in the sense that it remains in the ledger. The cloud is not permanent in any sense. These two facts coexist without conflict.

Make your dedication

Reserve a passing formation while it still feels possible.

Enter a dedication. A certificate will be issued. The registry makes no representation regarding the continued existence of the formation after the record is created.

This formation is no longer accepting dedications. The sky will offer another one shortly.
